Hi,
I’ve recently (3wks ago) had surgery with Mr Peter Barton-Smith in London.
I second Kathleen on the assistance coming home. Much easier to stay in an apartment but from my experience I would ask that it’s a wheelchair accessible apartment(if for nothing else the sheer handiness of a shower you can just walk into instead of trying to get into the bath/shower things). I had only one flight of stairs and a lift to go up then but even at that I found it difficult. Plenty of comfy clothes organised for weeks ahead of yourself, I still find myself wearing pj bottoms most of the time.
If you need any info on PBS or where to stay etc just let me know and I’ll point you in the right direction.
I can’t give specific advise on the CBD as of yet but when I finish fighting with them I’ll let you know!
This is my third surgery and it’s funny saying this now but I felt better after my surgery than I had in years and it’s weird saying that considering what’s been done to you but it just felt different.
For me recovering away from home was hard but I only stayed the minimum 3days and flew home again as there’s nothing like your own bed….in hindsight I should have stayed longer but I just wanted my own space at home!
If you need any info at all just ask away…
