I have a couple of questions about traveling to the UK for possible surgery if anyone can help me?

I’m wondering do I need a referral letter from my GP to see Peter Barton Smith in London or can I make an appointment directly myself?

I’m also wondering if I’ll need to bring my medical records to this appointment?

I have VHI cover for up to €100,000 for treatment abroad that is not available in Ireland as long as it’s preapproved. I’m wondering how difficult it is to get them to preapprove it, and at what stage of the process (after the initial consultation?) do I try to get it. How do VHI determine that the treatment is not available in Ireland?
