Dear All,
I saw Dr. Burke at her public clinic last December. I found her very approachable and understanding. She told me that she does excision but admitted that it would be a very long time before I could be seen by her for surgery.
I had already self-referred myself to Dr. Barton-Smith in London, and had seen him for a consultation the month before
She was ok to sign my insurance company form referring me to him for surgery. I had gotten to the stage of not being able to work etc. so this would have supported my case.
I was fortunate to be able to book a date with him for early Feb. so had my surgery before Covid restrictions.
Dr. Barton-Smith is obviously a very skilled surgeon and I am very lucky to have had my surgery with him. However, there were a few aspects of my experience with him that I was not happy with.
Just to say, I had 100% successful ablation surgery for endometriosis 23 years ago and had hardly endo symptoms until last Autumn, following an internal vaginal physio examination, which aggravated a small amount of endo tissue on my pelvic wall. So if you have never had endo surgery and have no more than Stage 1 or 2 endo and are not in a position to leave Ireland, it may be worth having ablation rather than waiting indefinitely for excision……. just do not live in pain.
