If anyone’s interested for future reference, I had the protocol prescribed by Dr. Barton-Smith at the Mater Private in July.

A few weeks previously I had had an ultrasound at the MPH, and was referred for an MRI by the radiologist there. In the meantime, I’d been in contact with Dr. Barton-Smith to ascertain what was needed in the imaging (an MRI of the pelvis and MRI of the abdomen). I then emailed the MPH the protocol and they clarified that it was no problem at all.

The diagnostic imaging department rang me the day before hand to go through a few questions. Everything went seamlessly on the day, the staff were warm and professional and everything was explained well. The MRI was reported on the next day and I received my imaging.

The only negative is that the the MPH currently have a Covid Screening Charge of €75, which amounts to a temperature check and a few questions. It’s a bit cheeky, as I had been there a few weeks prior to the introduction of the charge for the ultrasound and the ‘screening’ remained the same, albeit that the person taking my information was now in a shared office and not at a reception-like desk.
